About Hairy Flower Wasps
Hairy flower wasps are stocky, hairy wasps, usually black with yellow or orange bands. Adults are often seen feeding on nectar at flowers, and they help pollinate garden plants. Females hunt beetle grubs in the soil and lay their eggs on them.

Look for a thick, hairy body with black and yellow or orange stripes and dark, sometimes smoky wings. They often fly low over lawns in the warmer months.
Nests and Life Cycle
There is no colony and no nest in the usual sense. The female digs down to a beetle grub, paralyses it and lays an egg on it, and the wasp larva feeds on the grub.
