Wasp Nests and Identification

How do I know if I have a wasp nest?

Repeated wasp activity around one location, a visible papery nest, or wasps entering and leaving the same point - a hole in a wall, a roof space or the ground - can indicate that a nest is nearby.

Where can wasp nests be found?

Common locations include roof eaves, roof spaces, wall cavities, sheds, garages, trees, shrubs, pergolas, letterboxes and underground burrows, at both residential and commercial properties.

What kinds of wasps do you deal with?

Paper wasps, mud daubers, European wasps (yellow jackets) and the large, hornet-like wasps people often call hornets. We identify the wasp before we treat the nest.

Are there hornets in Australia?

True hornets are not established in Australia. Large wasps called hornets are usually big native wasps or European wasps.

How can I tell wasps from bees?

Wasps usually have smooth, slim bodies with a narrow waist and little hair, while bees are rounder and hairier.

Our Service

Do you service Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast?

Yes. We service Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, as well as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra.

Do you provide residential wasp removal?

Yes. We remove wasp nests at houses, units and other homes, including nests in eaves, roof voids, wall cavities, sheds and gardens.

Do you provide commercial wasp control?

Yes. Service requests are available for cafes, restaurants, schools, childcare centres, warehouses, body corporates and other commercial properties.

Do you work on weekends?

Yes. We work seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays.

Can you come the same day?

Where we can, yes. Call us and tell us how urgent it is.

How do you quote for wasp removal?

We give you a clear written quote after we inspect the nest. It depends on the wasp, where the nest is and how hard it is to reach, and there are no hidden charges.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. If the nest is outside and we can reach it, you may not need to be home - just tell us when you request the service.

Safety and Prevention

Can I remove a wasp nest myself?

We advise against disturbing an active nest. Wasps defend their nest, and nests inside walls and roof voids are hard to reach safely. Contact us instead.

What should I do until you arrive?

Keep people and pets away, close nearby doors and windows, and don't spray, block or knock the nest.

What attracts wasps to my home?

Sweet drinks, food scraps, open bins, pet food, fruit trees and sheltered spots such as eaves and sheds all attract wasps.

How can I stop wasps nesting near my home?

Seal gaps in eaves and walls, keep bins closed, clear fallen fruit, tidy sheds and check sheltered spots each spring. We can point out what applies to your property.

What if someone has been stung?

If a person is unwell after a sting - especially with swelling of the face or throat, or trouble breathing - call 000 or seek medical help immediately.

When are wasps most active?

Nests start small in spring and grow through summer, with activity often most noticeable in late summer and autumn. In warmer areas, wasps can be active for much of the year.
